Popmundo Chat Rules of Conduct

The main purpose of the chat is to have a place were all users can meet and discuss the wonderful world of Popmundo. The chat is meant for everyone, from beginners to experienced users. To ensure that it is as enjoyable as possible for everyone we have drawn up some simple rules for you to follow. In addition to these rules the general rules of the game also apply for the chat.

Your behaviour

Respect each other. Don't provoke or insult people just because you're miles away safely behind your computer. Personal attacks, or so called "flame baits" are not accepted. And remember that if someone behaves badly it does not give you the right to do the same.

Do not nitpick and provoke just to get a reaction from other users or operators. Everyone should have a pleasant stay in chat and if someone tries to ruin that they might end up being banned for a long time.

What is considered as a personal attack/abuse?
The rules of Popmundo say that if anyone is offended, either the target of the attack or someone else, it is considered as abuse. This applies to chat as well, but remember that each "case" is revered individually. The operators will take the action they find appropriate at the given time.

General rules

Language
The official language of the chat is English. If you wish to communicate in another language please do so in private chats or other language specific chats.

Nicknames and away-messages
You must always use the name of your main character while in chat so that it looks the same regardless if you enter chat through the site (java-client) or use a stand alone client (such as mIRC or HydraIRC). The name should look like this: FirstnameLastname.

In order to avoid confusion (who's who) you may not enter chat using the name of your children unless your main character is dead. Dead characters are not allowed to enter chat.

When you leave your computer you may change your nickname so that it contains lower case letters only. This to indicate that you're not there. As soon as you return to the computer you should change your nickname back. When you return you must remove the away-status.

Do not play around with your nickname and never ever try to impersonate someone else.

Flooding/CAPS
It is not allowed to flood the channel or use capital letters too frequently. The limit for flooding is 5 lines in 5 seconds, while the CAPS-limit is 20 characters.

No spam
This includes scripts that let everybody know what song you are currently listening to, or scripts that are triggered by events in chat (for instance saying "hi" as soon as someone enters chat) etc.

Profound language
Reasonably "adult" language is allowed as long as no one is offended by it. If you find the language in chat to be over the top, please tell any of the operators and they will act on it. Think of the children!

If you fail to follow these simple rules you will, sooner or later, face the consequences by the...

Chat operators

The operators are trusted people who have been asked to act as hosts and caretakers in the chat. You recognize them by the @-symbol they have in front of their nickname. If you feel uncertain about the rules, don't hesitate to ask them.

Operators are expected to act when someone breaks the rules. They may do that by either issuing a warning, kicking or banning a user. They may also report a user to those whom we don't speak of.

When a punishment is issued it is only a matter between that operator and the user being punished. It is not of any other users business and you will only be wasting your time (and the trust from the operators) if you take your case to another operator.

Respect the channel operators. They invest a lot of their spare time to make chat a nice and fun place to hang out at.

And finally. Enjoy your stay in chat and respect your fellow users!
